Bird’s Nest
Library and Technology

Where language, literacy, and communication come to life. We recognize that children learn in different ways and different paces. Our Bird’s Nest is aimed to encourage and stimulate your little one’s curiosity with light tables, sensory and felt boards, and various centers to view, explore, and learn letters, colors, shapes, and numbers. While in the library, children will be able to read books, perform or watch a puppet show, play educational computer games, and have quiet time in our Bird’s Nest Treehouse!

At the Children’s Treehouse we believe literacy begins at birth so making space for your baby and toddler’s literary development is important to us. Our Bird’s Nest librarian will travel to the younger classrooms with books, sensory items, puppets, and more. Through these activities your baby will be able to explore and learn language, literacy, and communication.  You can expect that your child, from birth up through school age, will find our library to be an additional outlet to learn, explore, and create.

Traveling Artists
Art, Music, and Movement

Children express and represent what they observe, think, imagine, and feel through art and music. Our traveling artists will bring art supplies, pieces, music, and instruments to each classroom for the kids to tap into their artistic and musical side.

Art

Art activities are used to promote and enhance your child’s learning in literacy, mathematics, and other cognitive and social areas. While we provide specific art activities for our students, we also strongly believe in giving children the creative freedom to think and imagine outside of the box. We are also passionate about connecting our kids with local artists, venues, and culture in the community.

Music & Movement

Our music and movement activities are aimed to encourage your child’s innate desire to move and shake.  During M&M time, children dance, explore and identify sounds, find their singing voice, develop melody, learn songs, and have fun with simple instruments.

Beaver’s Lodge
Café, Physical Education, and Health

Where all things happen, from eating healthy meals to burning off that extra energy, your child will enjoy the function and environment of this multi-purpose room. Our Beaver’s lodge is also where our Bear’s Club meets.

Café

Classrooms (Age 2 and up), will come to participate in a “family style” eating environment. Our cook will serve kid-friendly meals, planned and prepared using the USDA Food and Nutrition guidelines. We serve breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack.

Physical Education and Health

Run, jump, toss, and tumble! Classrooms (Age 1 & walking and up) will be able to come and play in the gym. Our P.E. teacher will provide planned activities, from working on their balance to racing through an obstacle course.  Our gym will be open for play, rain or shine, hot or cold, to provide the space needed to let our kids’ burn off some energy.

Treehouse Lab
Science Program

Exploring science is a natural and critical part of children's early learning because children's curiosity about the natural world is a powerful motivation for their work and play. With the appropriate guidance, this natural curiosity and need to make sense of the world becomes the foundation for beginning to use skills of inquiry to explore basic materials, as well as cause and effect scenarios in the world surrounding them. Early science exploration can be used as an effective setting in which children can use and develop other important skills; including working with one another, basic large and small-motor control, language, and early mathematical understanding.

At the Treehouse, our Science Enrichment Program offers students opportunities to explore the world around them using various sensory objects, conducting scientific experiments to explore cause and effects related to weather, hygiene, as well as other real-world experiences relative to children. The Science Enrichment Program also consists of students participating in planting a community garden and helping in the gathering of the harvest. Students also explore nature, scientific classifications, and even use cooking experiences to further their natural curiosity of the scientific world around them!
